Salta hosted the 46th Ordinary Assembly of the Federal Mining Council (COFEMIN), an event that brought together representatives from all 23 provinces of the country and the National Secretary of Mining, Luis Lucero. The opening was led by Romina Sassarini, Secretary of Mining and Energy of Salta, who presided over the assembly.
During the opening, Sassarini highlighted the notable participation in the "Self-assessment of gaps and opportunities for improvements in policies and public management in mining" process, carried out in collaboration with the World Bank, whose objective is to promote continuous improvement in policies and public management related to mining activity in the country.
The meeting featured the presence of mining authorities from all provinces. In his speech, the National Secretary of Mining, Luis Lucero, emphasized the importance of the cooperation model, as evidenced by the recent creation of the Copper Task Force in San Juan.
A key agreement reached during the assembly was the decision to increase Argentina's participation in the PDAC 2025 fair in Toronto, Canada, one of the world's most significant mining events. This increased presence aims to strengthen Argentina's international positioning and promote investment opportunities in the country's mining sector.
The assembly concluded with the election of new authorities for the Federal Mining Council: Joaquín Aberastain Oro, Secretary of Mining of Río Negro, was appointed First Vice President, and María Laura Delgado, Deputy Secretary of Mining of the Province of Buenos Aires, assumed the role of Second Vice President.
